Display Refrigeration Temperature Guide for Food Retail
For packaged drinks, the BC300 / BC600 / BC1000 glass-door family lists a 0 to 8 °C operating range. Our LC open-multideck displays operate at 2 to 10 °C. For island freezers, choose the cabinet style and required frozen-food temperature together; the operating range belongs to the selected model.

What temperature should a display chiller hold?
Start with the food, not the thermostat. Our BC300 / BC600 / BC1000 glass-door beverage coolers list 0 to 8 °C. Our LC-12-20 / LC-15-25 / LC-20-32 open multideck models operate at 2 to 10 °C. Choose the glass-door beverage family for bottled drinks that fit its shelf and power configuration; choose an open multideck when quick shopper access to packaged products matters and the required food temperature fits the selected current build.
For dairy, meat or prepared food, confirm the food supplier’s storage instruction and your market’s rules first. Ask whether a published range measures cabinet air or product temperature, and request the test conditions for the selected model. A thermostat setpoint alone does not prove that every item on every shelf stays within range.
How are island freezers and cold rooms different?
Choose an island freezer when customers need to browse frozen packs in the sales area. We supply deep, curved-glass, automatic-defrost combination and window-style island freezers, with end cabinets and upper shelves available. Tell us the required frozen-food temperature when selecting the model. Choose a walk-in cold room for reserve stock, where staff movement, daily incoming load and door use matter more than shopper visibility.
For a cold room, send the internal dimensions, target product temperature, incoming product temperature, daily load, door traffic, ambient conditions and available power. These inputs matter more than choosing a temperature number from a generic catalogue.
Which refrigerant belongs to which system?
Our display-case and island-freezer configurations may use R290. Larger cold-room or remote-condensing designs may use R448A or R449A, depending on the system and destination. Refrigerant is a property of the specified refrigeration circuit, not a promise for every product in a category.
Ask us for the selected unit’s nameplate, refrigerant, charge and installation documentation. The installer should check local rules, ventilation and service requirements before the system is ordered.
Why can a case miss its target temperature?
High ambient temperature, blocked airflow, overloading, frequent door opening, poor maintenance and warm incoming stock can all change cabinet performance. An open multi-deck display is especially sensitive to airflow across its air curtain. Record the store conditions and loading pattern before treating the thermostat as the only cause.
For a meaningful comparison, request the test standard, climate class, cabinet configuration and measured energy use for the exact model. Do not compare two unrelated energy figures without their test conditions.
